To raise Bancho Sushi’s Cooksta ranking in Dave the Diver, players must build a social media following, research new recipes and lastly tackle the important question of how to raise their Best Taste rating. Ranking up on Cooksta grants several benefits, including more openings for bar staff, extra wasabi, and even new bar decorations. However, despite its crucial role, the game doesn’t really explain Best Taste in detail.

Players can tackle impressive boss battles, manufacture underwater firearms, and even unlock Night Fishing in Dave the Diver, and the game introduces lots of new features over time. However, unfortunately for aspiring sushi bar managers, it doesn’t always explain everything players need to know, including just how Best Taste works.

How The Best Taste Rating Works In Dave The Diver (And How To Increase It)

Each dish, whether it’s sushi or more complicated recipes, has a Taste Rating in Dave the Diver. To rank up on Cooksta, players must have a dish with a Taste Rating that matches or exceeds the requirement shown in the Cooksta app. For example, to earn the coveted Diamond Ranking, players must have a dish in their menu that has a Taste Rating of 375 or higher.

Players can check the Taste Ratings of their recipes by looking at Bancho Sushi’s menu when visiting the restaurant.

The easiest way to get dishes with high Taste Ratings is to enhance dishes in the sushi bar menu. Enhancing a dish increases its Taste Rating and allows players to earn more money from selling it to customers. However, enhancing any dish requires players to use up ingredients, and at higher levels, the ingredient cost can be extremely high.

Players should also consider which dishes and recipes are worth enhancing. Certain recipes made with relatively common seafood, such as Dave the Diver’s seahorses, tend to have relatively low Taste Ratings even when enhanced to the maximum level. Dishes made with rare seafood or with multiple ingredients are the ideal choices for players who want to boost their Best Taste ratings.

The Best Dishes For Raising Best Taste Rating In Dave The Diver

To rank up to Gold and Platinum, players need to reach a Best Taste Rating of 125 and 250 respectively. A surprising number of basic sushi dishes meet the Gold Rank requirement when enhanced. Dishes made with relatively uncommon fish found below the 50m depth marker, such as White Trevally or Atlantic Mackerel, will meet the requirement. A decent Moray Eel Curry will also pass this bar.

Players looking for the Platinum and Diamond ranks will need to go deeper and explore late-game areas to find and catch Dave the Diver’s three-star sharks. Rare, hard-to-catch fish found in shallow water, such as Tuna, Marlin or Sailfish, are also great catches. A good rule of thumb is that the bigger, rarer, and harder a fish is to catch, the more likely a dish made from it will have a high Taste Rating.

One big exception to this basic rule are bosses, such as Dave the Diver’s Giant Squid boss. Boss enemies make decent dishes, but their recipes are almost always maxed out by default and cannot be enhanced.

Luckily, although the game doesn’t explain Best Taste in much detail, it’s actually easy to understand and get to grips with. However, Dave the Diver players will need to catch and prepare a lot of seafood to reach Cooksta’s highest ranks.
