A new Star Wars: Jedi game may already be in development, according to a recent job listing. Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor have followed the journey of Cal Kestis as he grew from a Jedi Padawan to a Jedi Knight, and the ending of Jedi: Survivor seemed to be setting up a sequel in which Cal could attempt to build a new Jedi Order on Tanalorr.

A new job listing for a Principal Game Writer at Respawn Entertainment has been posted on LinkedIn, roughly six days before the time of this writing. The job listing explicitly states that the writer will be working on the Star Wars Jedi series, indicating that developer Respawn Entertainment may already be working on the next entry in the franchise after the commercial success of Jedi: Survivor.

What's Next For Star Wars Jedi's Cal Kestis?

Cal approaches a temple on Tanalorr in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the ending of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The end of Jedi: Survivor was technically a victory for Cal, as he acquired Tanalorr, a planet hidden in the Koboh Abyss which he intends to use as a safe haven for the Hidden Path and any remaining Jedi. However, this victory was overshadowed by the loss of one of his closest allies and mentors Cere Junda, and Jedi scholar Eno Cordova after the Stinger Mantis crew was betrayed by Bode Akuna, someone who Cal saw as a friend, but revealed himself to be a spy for the ISB all along.

After defeating Bode, the Stinger Mantis crew now have the task of raising his daughter Kata. Cere advised Cal through the Force to "guide [Kata] through the darkness" that she will inevitably be facing after her father's death, setting up the possibility of Cal and Merrin having their own Padawan with Kata and taking the role of mentors in a sequel.

Respawn's Job Listing Could Be For Work On Jedi: Survivor DLC

There's a possibility that Respawn's job listing may be for Jedi: Survivor DLC instead. After the game's credits roll, the Empire appears to be reinforcing their troops on Koboh after Cal's actions have drawn attention to the planet throughout the game, along with the information that had been fed to the ISB via Bode about the planet. An Imperial Star Destroyer looms above Greez's Pyloon Saloon, which acts as Cal's main base of operations throughout the game, and several NPCs raise their concerns about the increased Imperial patrols to Cal, setting up a battle to protect Koboh prior that could make for a solid DLC story to bridge the gap between Jedi: Survivor and its sequel.

It's worth noting that Respawn didn't make any story DLC for Jedi: Fallen Order, however, and opted to begin work on the much larger Jedi: Survivor instead. If the developer opts to do the same again and is already working on a new Star Wars Jedi title, it could mean players will experience the next chapter of Cal's journey sooner rather than later.
