  • However, Sid from How I Met Your Father actually shares more similarities with Ted in terms of personality and storylines.

Though Sophie is the central character of How I Met Your Father, Sid is much more similar to Ted from How I Met Your Mother. During each story, viewers get to know Sophie's friend group - Valentina, Charlie, Jesse, Ellen, Sid, and Hannah - who are all navigating life and relationships in their early 30s. How I Met Your Father has a stellar cast and functions as a spinoff from the hit show How I Met Your Mother.

Since these shows are connected, viewers have taken to identifying the "new" versions of beloved characters from How I Met Your Mother. Most frequently, Sophie is called the new Ted.
