Pokémon Horizons episode 16 saw Liko recover her pendant and Dot officially catch Quaxly as her first partner Pokémon. Episode 17 is looking to involve the airship getting off the ground once more and setting sail for the Galar region, as Roy undergoes some special training for his new Pokémon, Wattrel. When Do Pokémon Horizons Episodes Release?

Pokémon Horizons episodes are currently premiering in Japan only, with new episodes airing on TV Tokyo at 6:55 PM JST each Friday. That's 5:55 AM on Friday for the US East Coast, and 2:55 AM for the US West Coast, making it a highly inconvenient time for most. Since the broadcast is intended for Japan, episodes air in Japanese without subtitles, making some knowledge of Japanese necessary to watch the show at present. An English dub for Pokémon Horizons has been confirmed for late 2023, but no more specific date is currently available.

What Happened in Pokémon Horizons Episode 16?

Episode 16 of Pokémon Horizons saw Dot leading the charge to retrieve Liko's pendant, after officially catching her Quaxly. While Friede was distracted battling the wrong person, Dot was able to find a cargo ship which Spinel was hiding aboard. Up against Spinel's Beheeyem and Magneton, it was a rough fight with just Quaxly, but Liko and Roy soon arrived, and the trio fought together for the first time against Spinel. After deploying his much more powerful Umbreon, however, things were looking bad. That's when Liko's pendant activated, sending a beam of light into the sky and allowing Liko to call on the ancient hero's Arboliva for help. With its help, they were able to retrieve the pendant and escape the ship, and brought to safety by Friede.

Pokémon Horizons Episode 17 Sees Special Training for Roy

The preview for episode 17 shows Friede's Charizard and Captain Pikachu battling it out in a training exercise, and it seems Roy will be joining in as the ship travels in order to improve the relationship between Fuecoco and his new Wattrel, who got into a scuffle during their battle with Spinel. Wattrel has already proven its value by helping to find Liko and recover her pendant, but as a newly caught Pokémon, still needs some training to become the best it can be. It also seems that after their adventure retrieving Liko's pendant, Dot is finally more comfortable leaving her room and interacting with Roy and Liko.

The airship crew is off on the start of a new adventure, and Roy looks to be making the most of their travel time by getting some training in. With the Galar region lying ahead, there's a whole new world of adventure for Liko and Roy, as neither has visited this region of the Pokémon world before. Liko does have a grandmother there, however, and as the original owner of the pendant, she may have some secrets to reveal, if the airship crew can find her. Pokémon Horizons is entering a new story arc, closing the door on Paldea for now in favor of adventure elsewhere.
