The trailer, as seen above, offers a deeper look at the long-awaited movie adaptation of the iconic horror video game, which will hit theaters and Peacock on October 27, including Hutcherson's security guard Mike as he tries to survive the terrifying animatronics. The footage also reveals some of the game lore being adapted for the screen, and some exciting supporting players to come.

How Five Nights At Freddy's Is Adapting The Iconic Games

After just a brief tease of the long-awaited adaptation, the new Five Nights at Freddy's movie trailer offers far more insight of how it will be adapting its iconic source materials, both faithfully and with a few twists. One of the most exciting elements to remain intact from the games is the designs of the monstrous animatronics themselves, with Jim Henson's Creature Shop taking a practical approach to adapting the characters with real animatronic figures.

Additionally, the Five Nights at Freddy's trailer shows the movie is staying true to the games' lore of the animatronics being possessed by the souls of children murdered at the eponymous restaurant by founder William Afton. With Matthew Lillard bringing the franchise villain to life in the movie, it seems likely that this plot point will be touched upon in some capacity, though the actor's direct appearance does seemingly indicate that Spring Bonnie won't appear in the movie possessed by him.

On the flip side, the new Five Nights at Freddy's movie trailer reveals one of the biggest changes is just how important the restaurant's power is to surviving the animatronics. Given this was largely a means to challenge players to strategize how to survive the night, it's understandable it would be tweaked for the movie, with the ghosts toying with the power to haunt Hutcherson's protagonist. That being said, it will be interesting to see if creator Scott Cawthon, who co-wrote the script, will retain the limited power aesthetic to further increase the tension for the horror adaptation.
