Red, White, & Royal Blue now has an official trailer. The movie is based on the 2019 Casey McQuiston novel of the same name, which follows Alex, the son of the United States President, falling in love with his rival, Prince Henry of England, after a scandal forces them to pretend to be friends in the public eye. The movie, which debuts on Prime Video on August 11, stars Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex and Nicholas Galitzine as Henry, with an ensemble cast that also includes Uma Thurman, Clifton Collins Jr., Stephen Fry, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, and Ellie Bamber.

Prime Video has shared the official trailer for the Red, White, & Royal Blue movie. Check it out below:

Underscored by "That's What I Want" by Lil Nas X, the trailer introduces Henry and Alex's rivalry before revealing how quickly they start to warm up to one another. It also ends with a flurry of steamy moments that imply that the sex scenes from the novel will be brought to life as much as the characters and the storylines.

How Faithful Will Red, White, & Royal Blue Be to the Original Book?

The trailer shows that the movie will be hewing closely to the original source material. There are many major character moments and set pieces already present. This includes a fight that leads to an enormous wedding cake being toppled over, the pair's first kiss outside Alex's New Year's Eve party, and a stolen moment at a lake house.

The characters from the trailer also seem to be ripped straight from the pages of the book. This includes Uma Thurman's syrupy Southern drawl as President Ellen Claremont and Sarah Shahi's sharp-tongued takedowns as her Deputy Chief of Staff Zahra Bankston. The push and pull between Henry and Alex that forms the core of the Red, White, & Royal Blue romance is also front and center.

It is likely that Red, White, & Royal Blue will have its fair share of differences from the book. However, this trailer seems about as faithful as it could possibly be. The changes will likely stem from scenes that had to be condensed or combined in order to fit a feature-length run time rather than any major alterations to the way events play out.
