Secret Invasion has now ended its run, and the Disney+ series' final episode has set up 8 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and TV shows. Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury was finally in the spotlight after more than a decade in the MCU. Secret Invasion focused on the personal struggle Fury faced over not being able to find the Skrulls a new home after 30 years, which led Kingsley Ben-Adir's Gravik to radicalize a group of Skrulls who infiltrated strategic positions on Earth, all in an attempt to take over the planet in Secret Invasion. With their shape-shifting powers, the Skrulls were formidable foes in the series.

However, that doesn't mean that Earth's heroes failed to stop the Skrull uprising, and did so with no Avengers showing up in Secret Invasion. Fury, Olivia Colman's Sonya Falsworth, and Emilia Clarke's G'iah managed to get the upper hand on the Skrulls and stop their takeover of the planet. Secret Invasion ends its run with the President of the United States making it clear that the Skrulls - and other aliens - aren't welcome on Earth. Fury gets an interesting ending that should connect to his appearance in The Marvels, and despite the fact that Secret Invasion has no post-credits scenes, the show's ending sets up 8 MCU movies and TV shows.

8 Secret Invasion Season 2

Secret Invasion G'iah Drax arm

Secret Invasion's final episode saw G'iah become more overpowered than any Avenger. After Gravik took the Harvest — the combined DNA of several MCU heroes and villains — and used it to give himself powers, he inadvertently gave G'iah the same abilities. After killing Gravik, G'iah ended her time in Secret Invasion by making a deal with Sonya Falsworth, as Colman's character says, “I will use you, and you will use me, and we’ll make this planet safe for all of our people.” Secret Invasion season 2 could focus on that new partnership, with G'iah doing jobs from Falsworth to protect the Skrulls on Earth from being hunted.

7 The Marvels

The Marvels Secret Invasion Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Nick Fury

The Secret Invasion ending sets up Fury's next adventure in the MCU for when The Marvels releases in November. Secret Invasion's finale saw Fury go to space with his wife — Varra — who finally let go of her insecurities and human form to be with him as her natural Skrull self. This leads to a sweet moment where Fury confirms to her that he loves his wife as she is, seemingly solidifying the pair's romance as a permanent MCU fixture. The Marvels should continue the mission the married couple is going to space to achieve: negotiating peace between the Skrulls and the Kree, who are now finally open to talks. Varra being the Skrulls' best diplomat should help.

6 Armor Wars

Real Rhodey is Marvel's Secret Invasion Finale

Secret Invasion hints Rhodey has been a Skrull since Captain America: Civil War. The MCU show's finale revealed that not only was Don Cheadle's Rhodey a Skrull for some time in the MCU, but it also appears that the character was kidnapped by the Skrulls 9 years before the show in the MCU's timeline. This is suggested by Rhodey being in seemingly the same hospital garb from Civil War, as well as his struggle to walk being seemingly in part due to his Captain America: Civil War injury. Armor Wars can focus on Rhodey reclaiming his life after so long away, coming to terms with Tony Stark's death and the fact that he wasn't there for him.

5 Captain America: Brave New World

Secret Invasion's finale set up a direct link between the show and next year's Captain America: Brave New World. The final episode of the series concluded with the President of the United States, Ritson, putting out an emergency bill that groups all "off-world born species as enemy combatants.” Fury sees the president's move as an overreaction to the Skrull invasion, saying the decision was “real one-term president stuff.” It has been confirmed that Harrison Ford's Thunderbolt Ross is the new President of the United States in Captain America: Brave New World. The movie can pay off Fury's line, showing how Ritson's decision backfires and Ross wins the election against him.

4 Thunderbolts

Thunderbolts cast in MCU Phase 5

Marvel's Thunderbolts can focus on one of the most surprising moments from Secret Invasion's finale. After President Ritson declares all aliens enemies, a sequence sees many human hunters kill or die trying to kill Skrulls all over the globe, which even leads to some innocent humans who the hunters believe to be Skrulls dying along the way. As Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is the Director of the CIA, there is a major chance that the Thunderbolts are the government's covert team to hunt aliens on Earth. The members of the team are no strangers to killing, and the movie could explore this new moral dilemma, given the number of innocent aliens residing on Earth.

3 Thor 5

Chris Hemsworth in Thor Love and Thunder

Secret Invasion hints at an interesting plot that could make its way onto a possible Thor 5. Ritson's emergency bill did not only make the Skrulls public enemies, but also all aliens. That would include the Asgardians that now live on Earth in the colony of New Asgard after the destruction of their planet in Thor: Ragnarok. With human hunters now set loose on the planet in search of aliens to exterminate, the Asgardians could use Thor's help to fend off the possible attackers, setting Thor 5 up to potentially be an adapting of the Marvel Comics Siege event that saw Asgard under heavy fire from several enemies.

2 Black Panther 3

Ross interviews Klaue in Black Panther

Shuri is the new Black Panther, and given the success of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it is almost guaranteed that she will return in the future to lead Black Panther 3. That movie could be the place where Martin Freeman's Everett Ross gets his recent MCU past explained. Secret Invasion's first episode revealed that Ross had been kidnapped by the Skrulls, as a rogue agent died and reverted from Ross to a Skrull. The show's finale saw Ross wake up from stasis at Skrulls' facility after G'iah killed Gravik. It is currently unknown if Ross was himself in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Black Panther 3 could answer that question.

1 Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Secret Invasion Nick Fury Avengers DNA

Secret Invasion's ending must impact a future Avengers film given the plot lines regarding them, and 2026's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the most likely candidate. The movie could well see the ramifications of Secret Invasion's reveal of the Harvest - the mixture of the Avengers' DNA collected on Fury's order after Avengers: Endgame's final battle - that turns Gravik and G'iah into Super-Skrulls. The remaining members of the Avengers that were present in that battle should have something to say to Fury after they discover what he did, and with the show being all about Jackson's character taking accountability for his actions, it stands to reason that the next Avengers film could continue the theme of Secret Invasion in this regard.
