Boba Fett is investigating the past of his illustrious father, as Star Wars reveals the forgotten mission of Jango Fett - a mission which is about to reshape the franchise's canon, and tie into the twisted upcoming threat of Dark Droids.

Coming this August from writer Ethan Sacks and artist Davide Tinto, Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #37 will see its star characters explore the "secret mission" of Jango Fett. The cover reveals little, beyond a reminder that Boba Fett and Durge joined the comic's bounty hunter crew in issue #36, while the ghostly helmet of Jango Fett looms over them. Jango Fett's Mission Connects to Darth Vader's Force Visions

THE HAUNTING SECRET MISSION OF JANGO FETT! The BOUNTY HUNTERS most contend with the looming shadow of the sins of BOBA FETT'S father! What is the secret that lurks on the mysterious droid outpost, THE HAVEN? Who is TARR KLIGSON and what is his connection to Jango Fett?

The name "Tarr Kligson" and the admission of a droid outpost may point to a connection to the Revelations one-shot from November 2022. Throughout Star Wars: Revelations, Darth Vader recieved a number of visions of things to come from the eldritch Eye of Webbish Bog. Among these premonitions was one of Luke Skywalker and his fellow heroes of the Rebel Alliance arriving at Kligson's Moon to discover it under attack by the droid revolutionary Ajax Sigma. Cyborg bounty hunter Beilert Valance also played prominently in Vader's visions, both foreshadowing his inevitable betrayal and his apparent possession in connection to the coming Scourge - a zombie-like virus which will soon sweep across the franchise's droids. It seems likely that The Haven has a connection to Ajax Sigma and the crew's journey to Kligson's Moon will set them on the path foreseen by Vader in Revelations.

Jango Fett Can Bring Back Iconic Prequel Bounty Hunters

Bounty Hunters has excelled at expanding on Star Wars' fearsome bounty hunters and their various back-stabbing missions. Not only has it provided meaningful characterization to the likes of 4-LOM, Bossk, and Dengar, but it has also introduced brand-new characters to the lore while breathing fresh life into Legends alum such as Durge and Valance. The Prequel Era's bounty hunters have yet to receive this treatment, not counting those like Bossk whose careers span both the Clones Wars and the Age of the Empire. 2017's Darth Maul series from Cullen Brunn and Luke Ross did feature the likes of Aurra Sing and Cad Bane in a supporting role, however Jango Fett was conspicuously absent from the effort.

If a bounty hunter as deadly as Jango Fett kept this mission a secret, it's guaranteed to be something mind-blowing, and since it will clearly connect to the oncoming Scourge, it's also about to change Star Wars lore in a big way, connecting Jango's prequel-era career to events just before Return of the Jedi. Little has been explored of Jango's life beyond the influence he had on his son, Boba Fett, and Bounty Hunters looks set to rectify that oversight.
