The complete second generation of Pokémon from the Johto region has returned in gorgeous fan art. It features all 125 species native to Johto. The beautiful arrangement creates a colorful and relaxing presentation of so many creatures from the anime's earlier years.

On Twitter, PaulDrawsArt shared fan art compiling each of the Pokémon into one large colorful array. The Tweet quotes the anime's iconic Johto opening with, "It's a whole new world we live in!" This generation was introduced within Pokémon Gold and Silver in North America in 2000. The Johto Journeys season of the anime-inspired by the games, dubbed in English, began airing that same year. It has been twenty years since this generation of lovable monsters debuted, but they're still present in the franchise and wonderful to see in fan art.

Pokémon Johto Fan Art Catches 'Em All!

This collage brings together 125 different Pokémon into one image. The Johto generation officially adds one hundred new species. However, PaulDrawsArt went above and beyond by including all twenty-six different iterations of Unown. Replicating the alphabet and used as one within the franchise, Unown is counted as a singular Pokémon within the PokéDex. This is a great detail that truly represents the full range of possible companions in this specific region. Each species of Pokémon is arranged by their coloration, which is a fun change from the usual type or number methods of sorting them. This creates a bright and visually appealing presentation of the region interspersed with the many Unown.

Several Pokémon within this generation added new stages to species from the original 150. It also introduced the concept of baby Pokémon with the addition of Cleffa, Elekid, Igglybuff, Magby, Pichu, Smoochum, Togepi, and Tyrogue. More evolutions and alternate evolutions were added to previous species, such as in the cases of Eevee, Golbat, Onix, Poliwhirl, Porygon, Scyther, Seadra, and Slowpoke. This generation also added alternate evolution methods, such as friendship requirements, item holding during trades, and daytime requirements (day level up for Espeon, night level up for Umbreon). This greatly widened the story potential and development potential of Pokémon within the franchise's universe.

Previously, PaulDrawsArt shared a similar work of Pokémon fan art, though it was focused on all 151 species in the first generation, including Mew and Mewtwo. It was also arranged by color but in a different order than this second iteration. The series has come a long way, with the franchise being on its ninth generation spanning over one thousand Pokémon - 1,018, to be more specific. The latest generation is being featured in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
