The second season of the dark fantasy anime Goblin Slayer gets a release date along with a first trailer that promises even more bloodshed to come for the controversial series.

The official Twitter/X account of the Goblin Slayer anime has announced that the anticipated second season will be released in October 2023. A first trailer accompanies the announcement, showcasing more of the brutality and gore that has made the dark fantasy series so famous. Season 2 of Goblin Slayer sees a change in the production studio, as the series is now under the helm of Linden Films, which also produced Berserk, Tokyo Revengers, and Call of the Night.

Goblin Slayer Season 2 Trailer Promises More Dark Fantasy Bloodshed

Based on a popular light novel series and a manga, Goblin Slayer made waves at its debut for its controversial depiction of violence. The protagonist, only known as Goblin Slayer, also called Orcbolg by his elf companion and Beardcutter by his dwarf friend, is a far cry from classic fantasy protagonists. After seeing his village razed by goblins, his only purpose in life is to kill every single one of these evil creatures. While other adventurers see goblins as a low-level nuisance, Goblin Slayer knows the horror that these verminous monsters can cause, and he exterminates them efficiently and brutally.

The trailer for season 2 showcases more goblin slaying (of course) from the protagonist and his party, a group of adventures who came to share many quests with the usually lone warrior. Little by little, Goblin Slayer is realizing that there is more to life than killing goblins, but fans of the series should not worry, as the trailer proves that there is still plenty of blood to be spilled from these foul creatures.

It's still not confirmed where season 2 of Goblin Slayer will air, but it is likely that Crunchyroll will pick it up, as it did with season 1 and its follow-up film, Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown. This dark fantasy series has surely made waves in recent years due to its innovative approach to a genre full of stereotypes. The announcement of the October release and the first trailer surely riled up fans' excitement, so they should make sure to check Screen Rant's Goblin Slayer Season 2 hub page for regular updates on what promises to be one of the bloodiest and most adrenalinic anime of 2023.
